Bon Anniversaire

Happy 50th Birthday my dear

A few little whimsies for you on this special day:
I thought you would be really pleased to learn that you share your birthday year with the Broadway opening of your favourite film (says she tongue firmly in cheek):

And the release of this famous film:

You also share your birthday with Juan Croucier, heavy metal rocker, Ratt-Round and Round

I admit that I have never heard of that last one

And as for the UK No 1 hit of 22nd August 1959:

It was

None other than:

Cliff Richard and the Drifters with Living Doll

The hunt is on for the sweets

The three stages of man?

Yes, it was my camera, but no I did not take this picture. I make no comment for I am perfectly innocent.

Cheekiest face of the proceedings:

A connection you may ask? Not for me to say .....

Sticky backed plastic

Saturday at the Weird Weekend found me helping to make masks with children in true Blue Peter style, as well as presenting Jon with an award. It is the 10th anniversary of the Weird Weekend, as I am sure most of you reading this will know by now, so I decided that the occasion should be marked in some way. I was not sure, right up until the last moment, whether I would have the nerve or not. However, I did and I managed to stutter my way through a shortened version of what I had written out and gave myself a conceptual pat on the back for managing to do it.

As is usual with most Weird Weekends, I have not managed to see many of the lectures - so far one this year! But as a bonus, Saturday did fuel my notebook with one priceless quote for my future tome about life with the CFZ.

Excuse me sir, is this part of your brain?

The morning after the night before saw me and Biggles out of the house by 9.00 am on the way to the vet. He has not been well poor chap and we had decided that a visit to the vet was the best thing. After a shot of anti-biotics, and armed with a box of tablets, we returned to the house around an hour and a half later to find the cleaning up activities well under way after the cocktail party.

Looking through the photographs taken the night before, I have decided to throw open a fun caption competition. There won't be a prize as such, but the winning three will have their captions forever immortalised on this blog.

Needles and Pins

During the winter months of 2007/2008 we lent our Bigfoot to some business friends for them to stand in the foyer of their main hall – at the time it seemed like a good idea. However it seemed that the PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH notice that had been pinned to him rather like an evacuee’s name card had not had the desired effect as he was returned to us last year in a rather sorry state. Namely, his right arm had been wrenched from its socket and his left hand was completely unattached.

I spent an hour or so on Wednesday stitching him up, brushing him down and trying to dispel the aura that he had spent the last six months sleeping rough. I wasn’t 100% successful, but managed to sew up a few gaps and reunite his left hand with its wrist at least. Unfortunately, his wayward arm will have to wait until we can completely take him apart and refurbish him properly. However, it is one of those things that does not show unless you know it is there, and he is now ready and waiting to be transported down to the Village Hall for the weekend.

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday Biggles!

1 year old today

When I was little it was so fun, as it always is when you are under 10, to sing different words to the Happy Birthday song. To a dog who loves to root around bins, I am certain he would much prefer to hear that version today. So with a conceptual balloon, hat and party whistle:

Happy Birthday to you

Squashed tomatoes and stew

Bread and butter in the gutter

Happy Birthday to you
